Edward Wakefield is a self taught, South African-born artist with a focus on the intersection of traditional craftsmanship, modern technology, and human collaboration - drawing on his background is in the streetwear/fashion industry.

He creates art with the intention of bringing humanity closer together, and challenges socially accepted notions of beauty through carefully curated visual communication and contextual contrast. He first entered the world of art through the Crayon Artel, which started by translating the designs of artists from around the world into handmade Persian rugs, in Iran. This eventually led to the reinterpretation of hand carved stone sculptures, in Zimbabwe, as well as the conceptualisation and creation of more contemporary abstract crafts.
